What is Aces High?
About Aces High

Aces High is a FIRST Robotics team from Windsor Locks and Suffield, Connecticut. The team was founded in 1995 and after many years we are still going strong. The team is comprised of students from Windsor Locks and Suffield High Schools and adult mentors from Hamilton Sundstrand and other local companies.

The team currently has roughly 40 students and around 15 mentors and a number of parents that support it. Over the years we have become widely respected through our actions and for our annual scrimmage that takes place each year just before teams must ship their robots. Team 176 is not just about building robots, it's also about sharing the word of FIRST with our community.

What Is FIRST?
About Aces High

FIRST Robotics CompetitionFIRST is an organization created by Dean Kamen. It stands for For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology. Started back in 1992 to get students interested in Science and Technology, FIRST has grown by leaps and bounds over the past 20 years. Through a yearly FIRST Robotics Competition, FIRST excites students from around the world in Math, Science, Engineering and Technology. The goal of FIRST is to get students interesting in becoming engineers and scientists, rather than sport stars or rock stars. In the past couple of years FIRST has expanded to include a FIRST Lego League program for intermediate school students and a FIRST Tech Challenge program for intermediate to high school aged students.
