The game for the 2010 robotics season is called Breakaway!
Two alliances of three teams each compete on a 27' x 54' field with bumps attempting to earn points by collecting standard soccer balls in their goals. Additional bonus points are earned for each robot not touching the field at the end of the match.

Bumps are large bumper-like field pieces that robots can be built to drive over or under (through the tunnels in the middle). There are two bumps, dividing the field into three zones.
Robots can score by "kicking" soccer balls into their alliance's goal. Human players have to return scored balls into the field quickly.
Robots have 15 seconds of an "autonomous" time period beginning the match where they can attempt to score using preprogrammed code. Human players then take control for the remaining "teleoperatored" time period, lasting 2 minutes. In the final 20 seconds of the teleoperated time, the robots can try to lift themselves up on the towers (above the tunnels between zones) for the bonus points.
Alliances are given points when:
- 1 point: when a ball is scored into the goal matching their alliance color
- 2 points: when a robot is elevated off the ground at the end of the match, touching only the bar on the tower
- 3 points: when a robot is elevated off the ground at the end of the match, touching only another robot elevated off the ground
